Does anyone know the nearest camping area to the summit? Can you camp on the summit? I am planning to do the skyline trail this winter without riding the tram down. It would be nice to hear winter trip reports.

Winter? Bring your crampons and ice axe and know how to use them.

No camping on summit. Closest camp is Little Round Valley. In the winter, overnight permits should be pretty available.
