yucaipa fire #2

Some arsonist lit a second fire here in Yucaipa, and it's now burning right behind my house. It looks like the fire crews have got it stopped for now, but they're evacuating the neighborhood just below ours, and they've closed the road to our home...We'll be up all night watching out for this one.

Oops, just got word we're under voluntary evacuation. Wish us luck. Hey, maybe I'll be doing a whole lotta camping real soon!

good luck. If you need a place, I work for a hotel and can probably get you a deal on a room if you need one. It ain't free but it sure beats camping.

Zip: I hope they get the fire under control before it's a mandatory evacuation in your area. I can't imagine trying to pack up to get out, but all that really matters is that everyone gets out safely.

Zip: That sucks bigtime. Hopefully it won't get worse, and we don't get more later this fall. Remenants of a tropical storm might get up to this area and drop some rain on us, so that should help.

I was up in San Francisco Thurs - Sun with relatives and the smoke was amazing when we were flying back into the area. The smoke was all inland (San Fernanado Valley and eastward) and and the coastline was clear. Pretty amazing sight from the air.

Zip -- Best wishes to you and your family. We've been watching smoke and fire and breathing lousy air for days but evacuation is another thing entirely! We hope you don't have to go through that. Good luck and stay safe!
