Hi calicokat,

Congrats on Whitney-I am going next weekend, no micro spikes needed?

Howdy CalicoKat :)

Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing 8) The trail looks much better (e.g., less snow and ice) than when we were up there on July 3.

Tina -- based on CalicoKat's pictures, you won't need microspikes.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Thank you all for the comments.....the scenery makes the photography all that easier :D As Ellen said, no need for microspikes, the trail is in great condition, hiking poles help with some snow/ice crossings, but if you were to slip in those areas, you would just have a bruised ego, no serious danger.

Check out the weather forecast for the weekend, the T-Storm activity is picking up, alpine starts in order this weekend

As of this last Sunday - all snow was gone from the trail.
The spring is flowing good from the switchbacks.
We went up the MR and down the MT
Both trails are flourishing with shooting stars. The NF is also abundant in columbine from LBSL up to GSL.
Now is definately the time to be hiking Whitney.
