Does anyone know if Vivian Creek trail is open yet? I guess they closed it down due to bear issues. I tried to call Mill Creek but the phone just keeps ringing, anyone???

Are there any closure issues for South Fork?

Per posts on the SGWA.org board, Vivian is closed indefinitely due to a bear who doesn't know his place who's roaming the parking area. Waiting for DFG to decide what they're going to do about the bear. Southfork and the other trailheads are unaffected.

This bear is apparently smarter than the average bear.

Poor little critter! The picture looks like he's pretty young, and I'd say he's full of more mischief than ferocity. I understand he's a wild animal and all that, but I hate to see him pay with his life for a few picnic baskets.

Anybody got a good sized cage in their back yard? Maybe we could sneak up Saturday morning with the cage and some fresh cooked bacon...we'd nab him in no time. Steve, you got a cage? I know Kathryn will come up with some bacon! You two could sneak him up on the tram and release him in Long Valley!
