Trail Comparisons

Hard to imagine doing the Bear Flat Trail twice but that is about the same distance and elevation gain as doing the Ski Hut Trail three times.
While they are similar in those ways I believe the Ski Hut trail 3X would be easier because you get one more downhill break in the middle of the hike.

aren't you in the wrong forum? oh wait..

you make a good point about the break. on the other hand, you have to go uphill again after 8000 ft of descent (more muscle damage) than only 6000 from one bear flat. still i'd choose ski hut

I won't knock anyone for doing multiple summits in a day. After all, I went for it too. However, I can't see making it a habit. I was happy to try something different once to raise money for a good cause. I may try it again some day. But there are much more fun and interesting things to do. :D

It's fun to think about "X"factors! making comparisons like that.

What about Ski Hut 3X vs C2C? Almost 2k more elevation gain and a little more mileage but you get that break again in the middle. You don't get anything like that up to the tram and the only down hill is from the peak back to the tram. very gentle compared to that insane ski hut above the bowl! Oh yeah and you hate the down hill so, would you choose SKX3 over C2C? :D

If I ever stoop to knocking you it'll likely be over something else.

That was really something else!
I actually liked 3Xskihut. Like a workout. I'm still in rehab so it's kinda like running laps around a track. It's fun! Think I'll do it again, soon!

How about you, me, and Blue - 3 x Skyline come October? I'm not often up for laps, but this could turn out to be real fun.

so that would only be around 24,000 feet up right? wow. and around 33 miles, right? (that's more than rick kents baldy5X but w/o hiking down.) but you get to rest w/o hiking down to the start...better think this through again first... still that third try would be hard to start. when is the last tram down again?
It would be fun trying though and if we could leave two cars at the tram that would be perfect for swift shuttles.
I think I'm gonna do it again to remind me of how hard doing it just once would be. ez to sit here and forget how long and hard that hike is...
