Mt. San Jacinto Outdoor Recreation

Walked through the tunnel today from the east only to see the west entrance nearly blocked completely. The cliff took out the concrete entrance facade and part of the road as well!

This is what it looked like January 24th this year. I was surprised to see this pile of debris there then. I know I've been through there since and it was the same as this photo. To see it like this is very creepy!

does anyone know how long the tunnel is?

The tunnel is short -- a hundred feet or so. You can almost see the end in the picture above.

Wow I didn't even see your post! How did you get it in there?

I did enter from the east. What I thought was funny is that the two other people that I went with didn't notice the debris until they got right up to it. They believed the small opening was the end of the tunnel further down. I go through there often and noticed it right when I saw it. Very creepy dude.
I think I have a pic looking straight up at that point. It really goes up dude. I remember the last time I passed by that point and getting that creepy feeling cuz it was so steep and high. Never felt that way about it before. Then the next time I passed by was that little pile and now this!
Can you imagine being in that little tunnel when it happened?

btw did you notice the little trail going around along the side of the cliff?
I think that was the way to get past that point before they made that tunnel.
You can see some of the iron posts along the way. Look how steep it is below that trail!
