Please recommend a campsite(s) in Death Valley.

There are a few campsites off of the highway 190 around the Furnace Creek Visitor Center and that’s the area I would like to camp or nearby; preferably a small and quiet site.

Also, if you have a suggestion for a must see area in DV please let me know. I'm hoping the wildflowers will be in bloom before long.

Thanks in advance!

halfway between DV junction and Furnace Creek - on the south side is an abandoned trailer park - this is out of park boundary and fires are permitted. It is close to where the hike for Pyramid Peak.

I will bring back a wildflower update after this weekend, but the reports I have heard are that flowers are definately in bloom and prime for viewing at the lower elevations.

If you're an Auto Club member, get one of their "Death Valley Visitor's Guide"'s. It looks like a fold-out map, and has a lot of info on all the touristy things inside the park. Interesting stuff: Scotty's Castle, Ubehebe Craters, Badwater (of course!), and Dante's view and Artist's Pallet Drive during the late afternoon. (Dante's Peak is a short walk from Date's View).

Also lots of hiking - Telescope Peak and Wildrose Peak are hikes with outstanding views (accessed from outside the Valley proper on the west.). Lots of hikes inside the valley itself. . . too many to name.
