Two of my friends and I are going to climb San Gorgonio in two weekends, (were planning on Skyline, but since the tram is closed thats a no go). Any advice or sugesstions? Also any good websites with info would be most appreciated! Thanks!

..I would hike via Vivian Creek route.....excellent and very challanging trail.......8 up and 8 down.......also, there is water along the way.....so you can lighten the load............

I too would suggest going the Vivian Creek trail. It is a no-nonsense trail that provides quite a workout. I have done it the past three years as one of my warm-ups for Whitney. Here is a link about the Vivian Creek trail:

Mt Baldy from Baldy Village is another recommended hike as a prep for Whitney. Doing White Mountain also is good. You start at nearly 12,000 feet, so acclimation is key to a successful one-day hike. God luck.

Guest: Yes, he did say that. Did you have something to add?

Just kidding, your post didn't come through, but you're ahead of me, since I haven't figured out how to quote people yet.

Did you notice he wished us "God luck"?

I assume that's considerably better than the more common "Good luck".

I don't mean to make fun, but I have noticed that if I forget to log in and I'm "Guest" myself, I can't go back and edit it, so I'm stuck with whatever I put, including little typos.

Incidentally, I would heartily recommend South Fork for a first timer. It lets you bail out at Horse Meadow if you get tired early on, or at the Wilderness Boundary, or at Slushy Meadow, or at Dollar Lake, or at Dry Lake...

The first time I did San G as a trail run, I had already done all of the above as training runs, so I knew the area and was used to the mountain terrain.

By the way, I just did Vivian this morning, and it is a very beautiful trail after the first mile, so both are great trails.
