this is great ellen, i am so glad you did the mt. route and we can share that. next year i am doing the loop for sure.
i really need to write up my trip report....

Love the Mountaineer's Route

Great trip. The Mountaineer's Route is so much superior to the trail I don't even care if I ever do the trail again.

Last time I did it was years ago with some buddies. We left the desert at 8 and got to the trailhead at 12. We got up at 5 and started out at 5:30. We were planning on doing the East Buttress but at Iceberg Lake one of the guys was feeling sick so I volunteered to go with him up the MR and carry his gear. We got to the top and waited a couple hours for the climbers to summit. We had a nice thunderstorm at the top and some snow. Went back down the MR and, after dinner in Lone Pine, drove home.

Thanks for sharing your trip. It makes me want to get up there. Seems some ducks need my attention. :D
