Nice work! Looked like a beautiful day on big ol' Whitney!

I'm curious as to why you guys were wearing harnesses on the MR? Was this a guided trip, or were you sneaking in some rock climbing up there as well?

In any event, congratulations!

Cheers,

Dave

lib-ha ha, at that point i was done with pic taking.

Dave, yes, it was guided. none of us had been on that trail and didn't want to be out there for the first time turned around and such. i am glad we did it that way for the first time up and down. now i can go b ack with confidence as to where i am going. the only thing i will do different next time is take the main trail down instead of mt. loving the idea of the loop, so are my knees.

Howdy Tina :)

Way to go -- you are an Ironwoman  There's no way I could do the Mountaineer's Route two days after doing Whitney via the main trail  Was Charleston was the appetizer?

Howdy Lilbitmo :)

I've seen Tina's "hand signal" on other hikes -- she showing off her manicure. Wait a minute, she's wearing gloves. Hmm...must mean something else

Are you able to join us on Skyline on November 7?

I think I will, I might start at 2 AM, I like the absolute colder weather, heat kills me, I'm a midwest kid that has adjusted to the heat for the most part but anything over 90 degrees starts impacting me, so I've made it a habit to start early, what time are you planning on starting?

Will Jim Bakos be up and cooking when we hit the spot he's going to bivy?

I think I will bring my donation with me, like you suggested. :D

I'm looking forward to meeting him as his insights about rescue have been very educational and greatly appreciated. :D

Howdy Patrick :)

Heat destroys me as well. I once started at 1:30 AM in late September when it was 88 degrees in the museum parking lot. I had enough water and paced appropriately but did not enjoy the hike. Now I generally won't go if the low temperature in Palm Springs is above 70 degrees. If November 7 is warm, I will do one Skyline.

I was going to mail in my RMRU donation but think I will hand Jim Bakos a check at the Flat Rock Breakfast Cafe 8) Every regular on this board knows that how I feel about RMRU :) It will be great to see you again.

Ellen
