The Clear Creek Jct to Switzer's Trail
Colby Canyon Trail
North Strawberry Peak Trail (From Colby Ranch)

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more.

Wow. That's more than I expected. Of course, the acreage is burned is greater than the acreage of the San Gorgonio, San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Wilderness area, combined.

Incredible. I guess with a lot of things you just cannot get the scope of things by watching them on TV.

Let what burn? Mt. Wilson? La Canada? Sunland-Tujunga? Acton? Your house?

Hey, if you build your house in the la river, don't expect me to run over every time it overflows and build a wall to save it. you build your house up close where you know there is gonna be a fire you better build it out of concrete. oh, maybe not concrete! doesn't that explode?

OK. If we let fires burn freely, we should let debris flow freely, 'cause that's messing with nature just as much as suppressing fires. If they get rid of all of the debris dams, most of the houses in the San Gabriel Valley are basically in the river (at least on the wrong day).

Hey you wanna build your house in a debris basin, go for it dude!

when you put natural fires out it allows unnatural growth.
Sorry to break it to ya but that's just the way it is.
If you wanna build your house in the forest, build it outta concrete, darn I keep forgetting that concrete explodes, anyway, build it out of non burning materials. let em burn.

If this thing is human caused, which most of them are these days, then how is this a natural burn?

You hear people say the hills need to burn every now and again (and I'm sure that's true) but I don't care how hot it is, or how strong the wind is blowing - there isn't going to be fire unless somebody starts one.

Occasionally, lightning starts fires. But we don't get thunderstorms that often. These days our fires are mostly human caused.

Now a whole bunch of great hiking trails are toast. They will probably have to keep them closed for a while. This Stinks big time.

Man, Smoky was right.
