yucaipa fire #2

Hi everybody. Thanks for your kind words. The fire seemed to have stopped, then wild winds started (it's never windy at our house) and blew the fire back into life. It looks like it's going the other way, unless the part that was past us turns around and comes back up the canyon where it didn't burn last night. I'll post again when we hear anything.

Stan - I am so sorry to hear about that lousy fire and hope you dont have to leave the house. Get a good quality mask or respirator so you dont have to breathe in the dangerous particles when you are outdoors.

Well, we lost power and phone, but the fire is gone and the roads are reopening. All is well, I'm actually at work now, so it looks like any danger has passed. See you all soon on the trail.

Sounds like good news to me. :)

Coincidentally, they've lifted the evac. order on my mom's place today.

Oddly, the reverse 911 didn't work on about half the homes in our neighborhood. Turns out we were under madatory evac and didn't know it! Well, fortunately all are safe and sound anyway.

Unh, hunh. Sure, Zip. I suppose you told that to the cops too? "Honest, officer, this is the first I've heard of it.

Howdy Z :)

I am so happy that the danger has passed -- I was thinking of you all day yesterday.

See you on the trail soon -- I'll even remember to include you in my trip report next time

From the heart,
Ellen
