Wow, nice job! I've been thinking about doing this hike, but I don't think I'm quite in shape for it yet. If I'm reading your report right, you carried 8L of water at the start and did not refill in Wrightwood. Is there a place that I could get water in Wrightwood that isn't that far from the trailhead?

Thanks!
Yep. no refill, and I didn't stash anything along the way either.
At the end of the Acorn Trail there's a bunch of houses right there. Some of the home owners were out and about the grounds there. One guy thought I was a thru hiker. I wish I was!
Maybe you could ask someone for some. Otherwise about a half a mile down the road is supposed to be some stores.

If you haven't done that north backbone section yet maybe park your car at the north end. map Then do the section up to Baldy and back only, just to check it out. It's only 4 miles one way but would be good to see what it's like before including the bear flat and acorn sections. Steep stuff makes me laugh! If you're like me you will find it very funny at how slow you have to go and how much water you want to drink! :D and you can check out your water when you get to baldy, those rangers with the extra water seem to live on the top. They've been there, with water, the last two times!
