Summer Solstice & the Solo Female Hiker

Postby Blooty » Mon Jun 22, 2009 7:49 pm

Florian inspired me to try Gorgonio via the South Fork-Dollar Lake-Dry Lake route with his excellent post last week. I would like to say that I followed in his tracks...but being a mere female I have to bow down..or whatever. In any event, I knew at the summit that I did not want to go the extra 2 miles to do what I like to call the south loop. It was 3:00, and you couldn't get a more perfect day at the top of San G. Had to be the summer solstice.

My dad is 80 this year, his wife said to him that maybe he should go hiking w/me, but for some reason he said, "hell no!" I am trained in CPR, but Dad, I love you and I understand.

Nice pics.

That red plant is a "Snow Plant," Sarcodes sanguinea. See also http://www.calflora.net/bloomingplants/photographslatinQ-S.html and then click on "Snow Plant" if you're interested. The list is in alphabetical order, so you have to scroll down a ways.

very cool site Jim, thank you.

Blooty, those were nice photos, looked like a nice hike. I'm glad my feet never end up having completely blue nails. Mine get a little weird looking sometimes, but never that blue. Musta really hurt.

FO....there was some really deep stuff in those movies, you should relax and go watch THE HANGOVER.

I'm looking for a site that has the pictures of the flowers and THEN the names!
What do you have to do? go through the whole list of weird words to find the flower? hello!
And those aren't nice photos, they are beautiful photos.
?how long are you going to stand there with your lunch? Don't you think it's about time you put some clothes on, stop staring at everybody, sat down and ate that stupid hamburger? furthermore, you need a hair cut and your picture is WAY TOO BIG TOO!
