What a wonderful area to go exploring in! So sad that humans have drawn lines that don't always describe natures boundaries.

The USFS map for quadrant 7 in that area, which includes the summit is in the "No Go" section of the map. And the summit area is excluded by the new "OK" map from that quad. Quadrant 18 which is just south of 7 is in the "No Go" area and where the Tarn (also partly in quad 7) and Big Horn are. No really easy way to get to Dragon's Head without going first to the Tarn. Section 18 is where they were dropping water Friday. I've traversed into the Tarn from the west and Vivian, Not a very great way to get there.

I want to go hiking too, but I'm willing to let the FS be the responsible party as to what is reasonable.

Both the John's Meadow to Columbine and Lodgepole to Fish Saddle trails are not on the current USFS list of inventoried trails. Nor would they ever in their current condition as they do not meet current USFS trail standards for construction. Too steep. Not enough tread. Lots of other features that do not meet spec. One of the many reasons they rerouted Vivian above Halfway back in the day. FYI: E16 "officially" ends at the camp in John's Meadow.
