We hiked to Christmas Tree Hill. We were hoping to use our snowshoes, but the snow if melting very fast. :cry:

Howdy Chevy :)

Miracle Marilyn and I snowshoed up to Anderson peak from the Forsee TH yestreday -- there's still enough snow to enjoy your snowshoes. Forsee has two very long switchbacks -- one heads west forever then eventually you get on another one that heads east. When the trail takes you to a switchback at the edge of the ridge, start going uphill and follow the tracks.

Z-dude introduced me to this shortcut several years ago -- it's great both with and without snow. We wore micrrospikes when we started hitting icy sports on the trail and shortly switched to snowshoes when we headed cross country and started post holing. Total time including lunch at peak, swapping gear and clothes, etc. was a bit under 8 hours.

I am just seeing this now. I've seen that route on maps before and it's on my 'to do' list this year.... just hoping the weather cooperates!
