For anyone interested in communicating with some of Alaska's best female power hikers (three of these women could do a sub 3:20 C2C ) here's some contact info....they can fill you in on all the trails and races up here.

Now that's a great way to see Alaska! Hope I'm able to do it before I get too old.

Alaska Mountain Races

Postby Bivouac » Mon May 24, 2010 6:29 pm

Howdy Zip,

You would really like the folk and the events up here. We have a website at :

http://www.alaskamountainrunners.org/ with the calender of yearly events like:

Bird ridge - 3500 feet in 1.5 miles
Mount Marathon - ( i submitted a you tube on this awhile back)
Crow Pass - 24 mile, pony express route "wild"
Matsu Peak -

Matsu Peak is the most difficult race i have ever done...it is longer and way steeper than C2C with butt busting down hills. The summit is a point of moon scape boulder lava with drop offs into hell...several thousand feet above the surrounding peaks. Can google it too.

Yup, come on up and race. Before you get too old...like me!

Sid
