Curious, if the Dow is booked as is the best western in Lone Pine where else would you suggest?
Cost is not the issue, looking for the very best.
thanks in advance.

Well, all the cool kids stay at the Whitney Portal Hostel  It was built & is owned by Doug Thompson, the same guy that runs the Portal Store.
For reservations, call: 760-876-0030
The address is 238 S. Main Street

Have fun--I just came back from there. Are you hiking the main trail or mountaineer's route?

The Comfort Inn at the southern end of town is pretty good. It's the nicest of the various motels I have stayed at in Lone Pine. Its on the right just after you pass the turnoff for the visitor's center.
