Trip Report Ice house to Timber 4/10/09

Went up Icehouse canyon again this time to Timber Mt. Hike was nice and cool, albeit with heavy cloud cover for most of the way. Once we hit the saddle the temperature dropped significantly. After a short break we headed up to Timber which only took 20min but we decided that was enough for one day. Coming back we hiked through snow, hail, and rain. Started hiking at 940 and got back to the cars at 3. It was a great day and finally allowed me to use some of my winter gear that I bought.

As for snow, there were some small sections along the switchbacks to the saddle. And the last quarter mile to Timber is all snow. It was rather hardpacked but no crampons were needed.

I am planning to head up the bear flat trail relatively soon. Just depends on when I can find a free day.
