Vivian Creek 3-7-09

Postby AlanK » Sat Mar 07, 2009 10:25 pm

I did a solo hike up the Vivian Creek Trail this morning. I "only" got to 10400' on the ridge above High Creek because I had promised to be home at an agreed-upon time. My early start on the hike (mine was the only car in the parking lot when I arrived a little after 6 AM and I got going by 6:35) was not early enough to allow a summit. It was nevertheless a beautiful day. There was snow the entire way except for a couple of bare stretches on the initial switchbacks. It was hard enough to allow walking right by the deep postholes from recent treks. Temperatures ranged from about 25 to 50 as the day progressed.

Alan: Thanks for the report and pictures. It's nice to get an idea of conditions on that side.

Nice pictures. I know all about those "agreed upon times". Most of my Saturdays consist of those times. My hiking buddies are getting tired of me asking if we can start at 5am.

Thanks for the pics.
