Sending a personal message

So I'm new to this forum, and I've tried sending a personal message to a user. The message goes into my "Outbox" but not to my "Sent Messages" so I'm not certain if the message went through. Is there anything I need to do different? Is this normal? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is normal. There's nothing else you need to do. It will move to the other box once the recipient has read the message.
