seeking room near good trails!

Postby mohren » Thu Jan 26, 2012 3:12 pm

I will be moving to the area in February and am looking for a location near Palm Desert that will also have easy access to the mountain trails. I thought this might be a good forum to find some folks with ideas for me.

Mountain trails?

Postby halhiker » Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:40 pm

Out here we have desert trails although they go into our local mountains.

You can find trails in almost every city out here except Indio and Coachella but Palm Springs has the largest concentration of trails. In Palm Desert, there are four or five different trails and there is housing in the vicinity of many of them near Hwy 74. There are some places in South Palm Desert, west of 74 that are walkable to trails.

For actual mountain trails, you'd have to take a drive up Hwy 74 to the PCT or the many trails in the Idyllwild area. It's about 45 minutes from Palm Desert.

I think he means light years Florian. Seems like almost no time passes at all when you're going that fast. Although you do tend to put on weight.

(A little physics humor)
