From the article Cy posted:
He once hiked the entire crest of the Santa Rosa Mountains — 40 miles from Highway 74, near Anza, to the Borrego Valley — in two days. Another time he ran from the north rim of the Grand Canyon to the south rim in less than four hours — a record at the time. Yet another time he rode a bicycle from Ocean Beach to Gila Bend, Arizona, in 20 ½ hours.
“Why Gila Bend?” I asked.
“Because it was 300 miles away,” he replied, as though that were reason enough.
Sounds like the crazy people on this board! Would have been fun to talk with him at the Tram bar, I would have enjoyed hearing about some of his adventures.
