Is Facebook Censoring the Left?

Postby Perry » Mon Nov 16, 2020 12:57 pm

I've been wondering if the algorithm is giving less visibility to political posts that might be considered left, despite people on the right accusing Facebook of doing the opposite. I posted these links recently on my page and in a local group with several thousand members and did not get a single like or comment. It could also be the general quality of conversation (lack of) in social media or that Facebook wants to keep people on Facebook and making purchases through their ads.

"Arizona officials confirmed repeatedly that its machines were capable of reading Sharpie-marked ballots."

These masks appear to exceed N95 filtering standards, but the company is waiting for approval to label as N95. The advantage is if you have to be around others who are not wearing masks.

The implication in the 2nd post is possibly that the Trump administration or somebody in government has done nothing to speed up the certification process of N95 masks to deal with the shortage.

I've never been on Facebook, so I've never left it, so they can't censor me for leaving Facebook, and thus a Facebook 'leftist'. Am I right?

If there was a "like" button I would "like" that.

I think Facebook censors or reduces visibility of links to AliExpress because it competes with their advertisers. I recently found a silly-looking insole and posted it to a group with 122,000 members. Not a single like or comment, not even a haha. Also, there's no preview image:

Here's the silly insole that likely causes various kinds of injuries:

A Facebook advertiser blocked me from commenting, and I think the Facebook algorithm could be lowering my visibility because I criticise commercial products in the ads.
