They're usually already on the trail. They get an early start on the Idyllwild side of the mountain (Humbar Park, Marion Mtn, etc). No whimpy tram ride for them!

The newspaper said the miss teen usa girls rode up the tram and did a hike. I doubt they made it to the peak. You could break a nail climbing those boulders.

Yes, they do start early from the west I believe, as I see them on the traverse s little before te shelter on my way down.
I have to make sure I don't trip watching w/ all the rocks & roots!
