Just did the Skyline Trail this past weekend..July 9, 2006. A few hints that might help...look for the white dots on the rocks next to the trail which are very helpful at night. Above 7,500' work your way as far right as you can go under the tram rocks and you will find the old trail which helps when you have to try climbing up a gully....6,000' to 8,000' is a real grind and just hang in there because it takes some time. There is water at the Ranger Station in Round Valley so you don't have to climb the Tram walkway. Started the climb at midnight which was nice and not too hot...lots of sweat the first few miles...nice full moon helped. Four liters of water was good to Round Valley.
