Thanks for the link Florian, looks like they did a good job getting that boulder off the trail.
Do you know in what proximity this is to where the trail slide down from a flash flood several years back?

Scott, i'm not familiar with the flash flood area you mentioned. The boulder is/was on the rocky section between South Peak and Antsell Rock.

Hi Florian, I'm not that familiar with that area, but I believe it's the same general area, (mile 170-175, as shown on pct map). I believe it was the main cause of the walk-around folks had to take after the last Idyllwild fire, followed by a damaging flash flood that took part of the trail away.
I also wonder if this is the same general area where the thru-hikers had the fatal fall last year, (or the year before). Glad the gvmt. workers were able to get this area in better shape.

The fatal fall last year was a bit farther south just north of Apache Peak.

Thanks for sharing, I remember this section of the trail well from my PCT section hike back in 2013. I recall how surprised I was about the steep drop off.
