San Jacinto trails

Postby Ellen » Sun Jun 07, 2020 6:05 pm

Howdy All :)

Friends and I recently hiked up to San Jacinto up and back via Devil's Slide and Marion Mountain trails. We did not need microspikes. Water sources are abundant. Wildflowers haven't started to "pop" yet. Hope to summit via Fuller Ridge soon.

Thank goodness we have the wilderness during these trying times.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Hi Ellen. Re Fuller Ridge hike the Black Mtn road may not be open until July. We're kind of bummed that we haven't been able to open Black Mtn fire lookout.

Thanks Ellen for the update, nice to know we can get away with a H20 filter & not a ton of water, for now, anyway.
Florian, your profile photo looks so apropos, (had no idea how to spell that!), in these times.
Surprised I haven't seen fake diamond-studded ones w/ Bebe on them! ss

When I last visited the area June 2, Wellman Cienaga seemed like it was getting ready to peter out. There was just a little snow left in Little Round Valley and the grotto between Jean and San J.

Update: The Black Mtn Road to Fuller Ridge is now open and freshly graded. It's a joy to drive!

Hey, something to celebrate when it seems like there's not a lot of positive news. Coronavirus cases rising, Lone Pine earthquake, epic Saharan dust cloud moving toward the SE US... Gonna get crowded on Fuller Ridge!
