Laws/Caramba hike/bushwack

Postby pkirkham » Sun May 24, 2020 3:21 pm

A group of four of us camped in Tahquitz valley Friday/Saturday nights and we hiked down to the falls yesterday. We pretty much traveled cross country to what is left of "Laws Junction" and then found remnants of the original trail that is cairned down to Caramba. I used a GPS track of the old original trail route to keep us on track. The water flow down there is amazing right now and contrary to all the rumors, Caramba did NOT burn at all in the last two fires...it is still absolutely beautiful down there, just tricky to get to these days!!
Here is my Strava track for the route:

It's a long day out, especially if you decide to do it as a day hike from Humber park!
Happy trails!!!

I've spent quite a bit of time in there the last few seasons. The confluence of Tahquitz and Willow Creek is a nice area. There's large pockets of burnt forest with major patches of Mountain Misery- wear long pants!
