Desert Hikes

Howdy All :)

Since I'm not tough enough to hike up AND down Skyline, I've been doing other desert hikes with the usual suspects -- Sally, Marilyn, Cameron and Kalen. These include the Murray hill loop, Art Smith through hike, my first Joshua tree car camp and hike and the Guadalupe. I'm even becoming attached to the Guadalupe

Thought I'd share some photos. Art Smith thru hike from Garstin to HWY 74 in early March.

In fact it, was my first hike of 2019. We had snow at Cowboy camp -- amazing.

Beautiful photos of the desert. The golden color of the light and the long shadows in the last photo remind me of how the desert looks at the end of a long day. I guess that is when you made the photo. Just looking at it, I feel as I feel at the end of a wonderful hike in the desert. Tired, relieved, and at the same time, sorry that it is over.

Howdy Ellen,

Thank you for the trail reports and the lovely photos. I always enjoy desert blooms with snow-capped peaks in the background.

Looking forward to Skyline again, and San Jac refreshed and hydrated. Wouldn't you know it, one of the best winters in years, and it was too much of a good thing for the infrastructure to handle. Hats off to the repair crew(s).

(sure had some good SoCal ski conditions, lingering still!)
