Howdy All
Literally and figuratively...
As a polar bear, I don't tolerate heat well and try to hike Skyline when the high in Palm Springs is below 80 and the low is below 60. I started about 5:30 am yesterday (April 19) and took the first photo before entering Doreen's "enchanted garden" (plateau at base of Red Ridge).
Took the second photo after descending from 5 K on the Red Ridge and starting to hike what I refer to as the "Never-ending ridge"
The view up towards the tram and San Jacinto from the plateau at about 5.5 K before descending and climbing back up to Rescue 2.
The view towards San Gorgonio from St. Florian's point at about 5.75 K.
It started snowing at 6.5 K. I am always amazed that I can be snowed on while looking down at Palm Springs.
The temperature dropped enough (mostly due to wind), that I donned a long sleeve wool shirt, an Arcteryx wind shirt and gloves. When I reached Coffman's Crag, I encountered two Skyline virgins. Shortly thereafter, I saw Neverwashasbeen, who had hiked down from Grubbs to keep me company. We scrambled up the rocks to the tram.
Enjoyed celebratory beverages and the usual fabulous meal at Las Casuelas before heading home.
Miles of smiles,
Ellen
