The article does not reveal much at all. Not even the usual "be prepared" comment from the sheriff.

Yes. But it did suggest that perhaps you can make a cell phone call from the hut. My experience calling from the summit has been mixed.

On March 28th at approximately 11:30am, the Palm Springs Mounted Police Search and Rescue were dispatched to a female hiker in distress on the North Lykken Trail. PSMP members, along with the Palm Springs Fire Department, hiked up the trail and determined that the hiker was suffering from symptoms of dehydration. The hiker was walked off the mountain after receiving treatment and was then transported to Desert Regional Medical Center by AMR.

It's starting again, I guess. We don't know the full story, or whether that matters anyway.

This afternoon a 911 survivor told me her story about moving to Palm Springs from New York. The heat effects caught her by surprise and zapped her hard. She moved to LA before the summer was over. Neither brains, nor toughness nor spirit can stand up to heat when it turns agressive, and no one knows when it may make its move.
