Is there any snow heading up to the tram on the Cactus to Cloud's Rest trail? Recent pics suggest it's warm and snow free. Is that correct?

Russ,

No offense, but are you sure you've done your homework? The route you're talking about is not trivial. The route you're talking about is called the Skyline Trail. Cactus to Clouds combines the Skyline Trail with the route to the summit of San Jacinto Peak. And it's Cactus to Clouds -- Clouds Rest is in Yosemite. We just had a storm on Sunday, so unless the photos you're seeing are very recent, then I wouldn't take it for granted that there is no ice/snow. Most reports I've read recently indicate that there is still ice & snow above about 7,000'.

This feels so much like someone's trolling.

Although I'll admit, a Cactus (start at Palm Springs) to Cloud's Rest (end at Yosemite) hike sounds amazing

Sorry, I misspoke. I actually meant "Cactus to Moon trail". That's where you start at the PS Museum and keep hiking until you're on the moon.

Went up the Skyline trail a couple of times when I was there and added some water and supplies to Emergency box #2. I'm sure it's almost entirely melted out by now, but there was (as expected) a bit of snow on the traverse. Instep crampons helpful but not necessary.

Cheers,
Russ

Hi

I added a picture, don't know where you can see it. It is snow on the top, but not more than that you can get there with jogging shoes. On the last steep part the trail is almost snow free.
