Its not difficult to get off trail where all the bushes look alike. I enjoyed the video which looks a bit scary because he was too close to the rocks and moved the camera around too much. Cool video - hot (and sweaty) hiker

Is there any source OTHER than the Desert Sun link posted above? I tried following that link twice; each time I got an annoying video about that Skyline climb posted by Eric something or other (a reporter for the Desert Sun) and when I dismissed the video I ended at a page which did not have the story in question...

Norris,

You're on the right page; the article is below the video. I've cut and paste it below. Not a lot of info.

They were found on Miller Saddle, mere yards away from the trail. I got a chuckle out of that.

Two Indiana men were expected to return to the desert floor Wednesday morning after getting lost in the San Jacinto Mountains Tuesday afternoon.

The hikers - ages 51 and 39 - called for help at about 4:35 p.m. Tuesday while descending from the Mount San Jacinto Peak, according to the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

Officials learned the men took the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway up the mountain and hiked six miles to the peak. On their way down, they went off the main trail.

The pair continued walking for about two hours before they found a cell phone signal and called for help, according to the parks department.

At about 7:15 p.m., rescue crews found the men in the saddle area between Mount San Jacinto's peak and Miller peak. They could not be safely extracted from their location and another team was dispatched to hike to the lost hikers.

The team found the hikers at about 10:30 p.m. The group hiked several miles to the Long Valley Ranger Station, where they arrived at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

They spent the night at the station and were scheduled to ride the tram to the desert floor at about 6:30 a.m.
