Scott Swaney is leading another 22000 vertical gain week end for the Outdoors club on Dec 1 and 2. This is Cactus to Clouds on Sunday and Snow Creek via the PCT on Saturday. There are eight people signed up already. Any takers? - Not me.

The Saturday hike is from Snow Creek via the PCT to San Jacinto with no bail out point.

Their listing both hikes at over 11,000 ft. of gain?

Maybe they are gonna bring a stepladder and get in a few extra feet back at the parking lot. Or, perhaps the mountain is actually growing. It seems to me it is. Or, an alternate explanation is that it is leaning .... as it slowly tilts westward, Skyline gets ever steeper ...

Actually, if there's up and down along the route, it could get to be over 11k gain.

When I did the Snow Creek route my Garmin said the total elevation gain was over 12k. There's a lot of up and down after the Fuller Ridge trailhead. The trail from Snow Creek actually starts about 700 feet higher than Skyline, so that means the ups and downs add up to somewhere around 2000'. They probably added up C2C and Snow Creek and split it in two, which would yield an average of about 11k.

Sounds like a lot of fun, and a good way to burn off Thanksgiving indulgences.

Yes, lots of ups and downs along the Fuller Ridge Trail.

I got around 10,800 feet elevation gain when I ran the route from the Museum to the peak (C2C) on my topo software.
