There's a Blood Moon on the Rise! (Well, in September...)

On Sunday, September 27th there's a full lunar eclipse that starts in the evening before the moon rises. The eclipse will continue for quite some time until well after the moon has fully risen. This means that an eclipsed, dark red "Blood Moon" will rise slowly in the east starting at 7:47 pm. It is always fun to watch a full moon rise from the Tram observatory platform, so this will probably be even more interesting than usual.

Here's a shot I took of the last one:

Just kidding, I found that online. But seriously, it should be pretty. BTW the tram is down for maintenance a couple weeks each year in September, but is scheduled to re-open September 26, so that shouldn't present a problem.

Just thought I'd mention it in advance in case anyone else would want to see it. I plan on being there!

Sounds pretty danged awesome. Unfortunately it's a Sunday night which is a bit tough for us who need to be at work in LA, Orange County, etc. the following morning. Still, one could be home before 11:00 P.M. "Hmm, hmm," said Hikin' Jim.

I went out to Whitewater Preserve for the last blood moon I saw. Seeing it from Skyline would be cool.
