Is anyone still doing C2C this time of year?

Postby zippetydude » Tue Jun 13, 2006 10:00 am

With the summer heat here, I'm just wondering if anyone is still going up the trail this time of year.

I was thinking about going up Friday, but am a little hesitant.

While I am cautious and watch carefully where I am stepping, there is always the chance of snakebite. Cell phone reception is okay for part of the trail, but it would be nice to know others will be passing by as well.

So, any traffic up the trail in June? July? August?

I am going up there tomorrow with Richard P leaving the museum at 1.30 am.
I will let you know about any critters we see. Friends of mine did it last Sunday and never saw any snakes. You are welcome to join us tomorrow (WED)

Thanks Cy. I've got to work, so I'll have to wait til Friday. Besides, starting at 1:30?! You guys are tough. That's beyond early! Do you get up or do you stay up straight through without going to bed?

Incidentally, your friends didn't see any snakes; do you happen to know if they saw any people?

Oddly, I've gone up on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and I've never seen a soul except for Saturdays. I'm wondering if there are only occasional hikers Sunday through Friday.

Anybody else got any input?

I go to bed at 5 pm to get seven hours of sleep.
My friends saw one other person. During weekdays its very rare to see another person up there.

Zippetydude - We saw no snakes today. We started at 1 am under a bright full moon and were at the Ranger station at 9 am. We continued on to Round Valley and then turned back and got back to the tram at noon. Eleven hours was enough of a workout.
