You won't need microspikes. I didn't use my poles today, even though I carried them. There are some short icy sections, but they are easy to get through.
Happy Trails!

We did skyline

Postby Dsrtrats12 » Sat Mar 22, 2014 6:38 pm

We took a group Monday it was my parents 63 and 65 me and my husband 46&48 some of our kids, 21,18, 13, 10yrs old. We took a gallon of water each plus a Gatorade, with plenty of snacks. The younger kids took 9hrs. It took us older ones 14 hrs., we almost ran out of daylight, we started at 4:30 am. We trained for at least 3 months and it was way harder than I imagined even reading all the reports! I felt fine the next day though, some of them are doing it again in a couple weeks, they want to improve their time. We did not expect it to be so hot, then the wind storm hit when we got to the 6,000 ft mark. The last2,000 ft were def. the worse!!! Looking up when we were half way it seemed enormous still! All in all I'm very glad we did it, btw my 10yr old loved it and wants to do it again!

I don't think I have ever heard of three generations of one family all going up--that's awesome!! Your group may actually be a 'first'. Congratulations for sticking with it and making it, all of you--it will certainly be a wonderful family memory. :)
