Tour de Palm Springs

Postby neverwashasbeen » Tue Feb 04, 2014 1:04 pm

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of hiking Skyline this Saturday. The Tour de Palm Springs will be Saturday. Palm Canyon Drive in the downtown area will be closed Friday and Saturday. Since they expect close to 10,000 riders, parking throughout the downtown area will be a challenge.
Happy Trails!

Does that affect the tram heading down late in the afternoon?

Anyone have times when it starts and ends, where?

I plan on doing the full C2C with 2 buddies this Saturday. Each time I have done this hike, I have parked in the museum lot at 3:30 am for my early start. I wonder if that lot will be closed?

And the Half Marathon is Sunday, which also goes right by the museum...

Howdy All :)

From what I can tell, both N and S Palm Canyon between Alejo and Tahquitz will be closed from Friday night at 9 PM through Saturday night till 8 PM.

Anyone wanting to do Skyline will need to park elsewhere and walk to the museum. I've done this before during the motorcycle rally by parking at....guess

Getting back to Palm Springs from the tram will be also be a PITA.

Howdy Patrick :)

Doesn't look like the tram will be affected, so starting and finishing at the tram shouldn't be a problem.

The streets are already closed as of Friday morning. Vendor booths will be opening at noon.

Howdy Cameron :)

Thanks for the heads up -- I've notified the San Jacinto hiking club for their Skyline tomorrow.
