Lost lower portion of trekking pole

Postby Bartman » Tue Jan 21, 2014 8:47 am

I lost the lower portion (about 4", includes carbide tip and small scree basket) from a Black Diamond trekking pole on Sat 1/18 on the Skyline Trail somewhere between Flat Rock and the top.

Several people said that they saw it lying on the trail. If any of you "Skyline Regulars" spot it, could you grab it and post a reply? I'll figure out a way to retrieve it from you.

Thanks!

Sorry you lost your tip. I hope you are renunited with it and that it can be re-attached. That's a real problem when a man lose's his tip like that.

Lost mine coming down from Wellman's Cienega last year. Learned they just "swedge" in, so I often "tap it in" on a rock as I hike.

Cost me about $12 for the replacement parts, which come in pairs, so I have a stand by tip.

Trying hard not to follow Jim's thread of puns.

Thanks Old n Slow, for both not following Hikin' Jim's line of thought AND for instructions on reattaching it should someone find it. I thought maybe it was shrink-fitted on there using heat. :?

No problem. For all I've learned from Jim's blogs, tips, and reviews, I'll allow him some puns now and then!
