Last minute overnight permit

Postby simonov » Wed Sep 18, 2013 11:19 am

I'd like to secure an overnight permit for this weekend, 21-22 Sept. Has anyone had any success accomplishing this in the past? I could overnight an application and check to the office in Idylwild, but would they be able to have the permit available for us at the Long Valley station?

Obviously, the correct people to ask would be the rangers themselves, but they aren't answering their phones.

Mitch,

I've had good success with the USFS in getting a last minute permit, less so with the State Park, but still worth a shot. Have you tried 760-327-0222?

Thanks, Jim, that number worked great. The phone was answered by a friendly and helpful ranger who said I can buy a permit on Saturday on the way in.
