Anyone going Saturday 9/29

Postby Cy Kaicener » Tue Sep 11, 2007 4:39 am

It will be a full moon and there are three scheduled hikes going. The Sierra Club is going around midnight and the Outdoorsclub (Udi) and our message board group will be going around 2.00 and 2.30am. For anyone who hasnt done this before its advisable to condition yourself with a hike of 5000 ft elevation gain minimum the week before.

If it is really hot I will be tempted to go at midnight. Hopefully temperatures will be normal for September.
The Palm Springs Road Challenge is October 13

Postby kevin trieu » Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:47 pm

Hey Cy,

Are you or anybody going on Sunday 9/30? I'm doing a big loop on Baldy on Sat 9/29 and was looking for something to complete the weekend.

Climb on!

Anyone going Saturday 9/29 or 30

Kevin - I dont know of anyone yet, but I am sure that a couple of the tigers on this message board will want to go with you. I cant believe that you will want to go again after doing 13,000 feet of elevation gain and 30 miles on the Baldy loop with Travis. Maybe I can believe it :D This sounds like a challenge for Scott Swaney or Rick Kent of the mt-whitney.info message board.
What doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

Kevin -- don't go on that crazy hike just to prove your Outdoors Club friends that they are wrong. :? I've seen your name in enough 9 Peaks registers etc. to know better. What'd you do, skip out on their 7/7/07 hike or something?

Those bastards. Did they write that on all of the peaks for the 9-Peak? Yes, those bastards left me when I couldn't make the 2AM carpool in Santa Monica.

Kevin -- I think they were getting a little giddy by the time they got to the 9th peak. We saw them on some of the others and the entries were pretty vanilla. We left San G before they got there, so I did not see the notebook entry until I was on San G two months later.

In the interest of full disclosure, I should show that you also have supporters who obviously realize what a stud you really are. :-)

BTW, most 2 AM carpools in Santa Monica are for people going home from bars and parties. Early. :P

Thanks Alan. I guess I'm not a sissy afterall. You are right! The 2AM carpool in Santa Monica is for peeps coming home from clubs & bars. In my situation, I was going from bar to Forest Falls.

I've had your link for the 9-peak hike on my computer for a while now. I still haven't looked into the beta and/or done it. I know it's one of your favorite hikes and I'm sure you'll be doing it again in the near future. Please let me know if you do and if you don't mind company of another fellow hiker.

Happy trails,
Kevin

Sounds good. We wouldn't make you meet a carpool at 2 AM! 3 AM maybe. :D
