Superbowl weekend was my 5th year anniversary of my snowshoeing misadventure on San Jacinto. The Craigmeister suggested spending several nights in the summit and eating sardines and cream of chicken soup, but I didn't feel up to a re-enactment
It was a beautiful day thanks to the clouds and mist over San Jacinto, the desert and the Santa Rosas. My legs were toast but Sally was happy to climb at my slower pace. As usual, I perked up after we had fueled up at St. Florian's cache and started the grinding climb out of Flatrock.
By the traverse, we were hiking in mist. I couldn't believe the amount of snow melt off compared to when Craig and I went up on Monday. We put microspikes on past Coffman's for security, but most folks just booted it up.
It was great to see and hear familiar folks on the trail -- Indie Jack, Hengst Joe, Liz, Sally, Janine, David, Diana, Speedy Steve and Patti. Thanks so much to Indie Jack for shuttling Liz's car to the tram station so we didn't have to pay for a taxi and to Liz and Sally for treating me to fabulous lunch at Las Casuelas.
Thanks again to RMRU, this forum and my family for my continued presence on this earth and this forum
From the heart,
Ellen
