Skyline on Saturday, October 13th?

It's been a while since I've posted here but I was just wondering if many people were planning to be doing Skyline this Saturday October 13th? I've got a chance to get away and do it again (8th time up if I do).

Earlier this week I noticed the temps for Palm Springs were forecast about 83 / 62. And now it's looking more like 90 / 66, which I'm liking much less. I'd of course start very early, around 3:00 / 3:30 and it usually takes me about 6 hours, though I was planning to do some photography this time if I go. Just curious if others were planning to be out there...Thanks so much, Robert

I'm planning to go up Saturday. I'll be starting around 5a or a bit later. A former co-worker is going up with a group from his current workplace and they asked me to join them. I'm not really much for group hikes so i might not stay with them. Probably be a lot of people on the trail tomorrow.

Thanks so much, Florian! I was hoping there would probably be quite a few people on the trail for a Saturday - I once did on a weekday and never met anyone the entire way up, it was spooky!

It turned out to be a perfect day hiking, nice cool temperatures all the way up, even got downright cold above Shade Rock right before sunrise. I met some nice people on the trail and it was pretty busy today. Sorry I missed you, Florian. As usual, I carried way too much, so was able to leave a liter bottle of water in the bucket and lighten my load.

I took the 10:30 tram back down, with only two of us on it, so they didn't even play the guitar music this time! Normally I'd hear it in my sleep later tonight ~Robert

Hi Robert,

Sorry we didn't meet up. I'm sure you were way ahead of me all day. The friend i was hiking with was quite slow so i'd hike ahead and wait for him to catch up. In a way it made for a nice relaxing hike for me, not so much for him. He was pretty wasted by the time we finally got to the tramway. I did notice the bucket was nicely stocked. Thank you.

Two notes on today's Skyline hike. One nice, one not so nice.

First the not so nice. Twice along the trail, once at around 4500' and again around 5000' i came upon a fresh pile of human sh*t right next to the trail. Also a pile of used (as in used to wipe oneself) paper napkins just sitting there right next to the trail. Looked minutes to hours old. How in hell could/would someone do that? Twice even! Not even go behind a bush or boulder. I couldn't believe it.

The nice was at around 7000' i realized i'd lost my camera. Well, that's not the nice part. It had fallen out of the little pouch i carry it in. Last time i used it was at Flat Rock so i started back down the trail to look for it. After walking down maybe 100 yards i asked a couple of guys on their way up, military i think, if they'd seen a camera. And they had, and they had it, and cheerfully gave it back to me! Thank you!! And i didn't have to go back down and up that chaparral slope again.

Otherwise was a perfect day on the trail with temps just right all the way up. Even got to chat with Fernando as he was heading back down on a C2C2C.

Wow, that is really gross - Unbelievable! Yeah, there are bushes and rocks everywhere...

And no problem about the water, Florian. I'll try to carry an extra one to leave the next time I do it..
