MENIFEE: 77-year-old heads to hike in the Himalayas

Postby greatshaitan » Wed Sep 26, 2012 6:56 am

I have climbed next to this guy probably a dozen times, once we had a conversation hanging 200ft off the deck. We met again on the trail while hiking up Tahquitz peak about a month ago. He was training for a trip to the Himalayas, including a stop at Everest base camp. Very cool. This guy will do stuff that scares me. Climbing the same stuff I am except he has no ropes and one slip=death. One of the nicest people I have met in the wilderness, can't wait to see him when he gets back to hear stories.

Pretty cool.

I hope I can still hike even in the local mountains at that age. Heck, I hope I make it to that age.
