Thanks Jim. I started out around 7 doing some mountain biking on the goat trails...till about 9. Then I took the first tram up, and for the first time made it to the peak. yup! First time up! It took 3 hours and the temps were great. The trail was very empty most of the way, with only 3 people at the peak. One guy was doing C2C2C! Smog was pretty thick down below, but with views in all directions, its still the best local top of the world feeling one can get. Coming down took 2 hours (i jogged a bit), so....12 miles in 5 hrs aint to bad for me at those dizzying heights. I'd post pics, but you all know what it looks like, haha. I will post on FB once i have space on my hard drive. happy trails, all.

Alright! You finally did the peak! So did you bike all the way from Indio to the tram station plus the goat trails?

G'donya, glad you had a fine summit hike. Finely done, sir.
A nice cool day for this time of year made it all the more pleasant.

BTW, "msugarpants" evokes Sugar Cane dungarees (Sugar spun o' Buzz Rickson, if that rings any bells. HPA best known re: Eastman Leather jackets etc... next we'll be yakking about Nigel's repros of Mallory's Everest gear--not!)

congrats again on the San Jac jaunt

Hello STS. I do remember passing you on the way down. I was motoring downhill and I think your son asked me how much longer. That was with about 1.5 miles to go to the summit. Glad you made it! I look forward to taking my kids out there when they are a bit older
