New water info request

Postby TerraElise » Thu Jul 19, 2007 3:16 pm

Hello, all! New to the board, 'leading' an outdoorsclub.org 3 night backpack late September (SJunction / LRoundV / Peak + SJunction). Is there a remote chance that any of those streams will be trickling water (based on last year)? Or should I check back in mid-Sept (last minute)?

thanks!!

Only if we get a lot of rain during the thunderstorm season... We didn't get much snow this past winter. :(

The mountain received some rain today!

I cannot speak for the State Wilderness area except to say I have heard the water at Round Valley barely running (1 gal per hr.) now. By September you can likely count on no water.

The National Forest section of the Wilderness is virtually dry. The Forest Service is posting notices for hikers and backpackers to pack all required water.

I did not find water in any of the usual places along The Devils Slide or in Tahquitz Valley last weekend.

Plan to haul all you need.

Good Luck!

thanks!

That's the plan to hike in with about 3.5 gallons (fun!)
