Wednesday Skyline anyone?

Postby Ellen » Tue Dec 20, 2011 1:25 pm

Howdy All :)

Anyone interested in doing Skyline tomorrow Wednesday December 21?
We don't have to be the same speed, but it's always nice to know that someone else is on the trail.

Miles of smiles and Merry Christmas,
Ellen

I'm looking for a Friday partner, Ellen! I asked Tim and he's on the fence about it but will let me know by Thursday. Good luck finding a partner for tomorrow and let me know if you're free Friday! I sure wish i was free tomorrow, I've been itching for an ascent.

Patrick, what time do you plan to start on Friday? I would probably start around sunrise, but won't know whether I will go Friday or Sunday until the last minute.

Howdy Patrick :)

Hope BDog can go with you on Friday -- he's probably much closer to your pace. I'm being a Skyline Seductress and encouraging Tim to join you

Bdog - I planned to start hiking around 7am on Friday, a little later than you planned. If you wanna team up, we can negotiate a starting time.

Ellen - Your pace is quick and you know it! I'll catch you up there someday soon.

Patrick-I have a ~2 hour drive to get the Palm Springs and can't commit to a starting time. The plan will be to just wake up and start driving and hopefully get to the TH around the time I want to start.

I understand. I live like 10 minutes from the TH so again, if you want a partner, send me a text or PM the day before and we can go from there. I'll send you my number in a PM a little later.

Skyline Update??

Postby Carl F » Tue Dec 20, 2011 7:01 pm

I am going up on Thursday with a newbie, my 22 year old daughter. She will likely be waiting for me most of the day, but I worry about the traverse. That's what dads do, I guess. Since I could not get the correct microspikes, I will have crampons for emergency but hopefully will not need them. It seems like a sheet of ice is NOT what's up there presently. I've gone across twice with only poles in the last 6 weeks and just had to take it a little easy. Any advice will be appreciated. :D

Just off the press - A-16 to the rescue! Got the correct microspikes (mentioned earlier on this board) at A-16 in San Diego. I feel much better now. I really didn't want to cary crampons and get new ones for my daughter. REI loses out...
