Road to Seven Pines trailhead open?

Postby DaddyLongLegs » Wed Dec 07, 2011 10:12 am

Can anyone confirm that the road to Seven Pines trailhead is open all the way to the trailhead? A ranger said it was, but I'm prone to double-checking.

Even though a ranger at the Idyllwild station assured me that the road to Seven Pines trailhead was open, it was gated yesterday morning, leaving us several miles short of the trailhead. Grrrrrr!

Cleveland National Forest is just as bad. Several times I have called to find out if Main Divide road, or other gates are open and the information they give is usually wrong. How hard could it be to maintain a site with the status of the gates in the National Forest???

Since the road to the trailhead was closed, we had to travel cross-country to access the trail. The terrain on and in the vicinity of the Seven Pines Trail is spectacular.

No the gate was closed above Stone Creek at the split for Dark Canyon and Marion Mountain so the road leading up to Dark Canyon at 4S02 and 4S71 split is locked right there.
