Mt. San Jacinto Outdoor Recreation

I have been lurking on this forum for a while and have gained lots of valuable information from the very civilized posters here.
I am planning to climb your beautiful mountain and the six named peaks for the first time this Saturday and have a couple of questions.
Should I do Cornell first or last? At what time do I have to get in line to make the first tram? I expect the whole trip to take 9-12 hours depending on the weather/heat so I want to give myself plenty of time.
Any suggestions / comments are welcome.

I have done it a couple of times and always started along the Cornell ridge then miller SJ then Folly then go southacross from Folly and pick upMarion Jean and the others along hidden divide....there's always N D too...

Labor Day weekend might be more crowded than usual. I normally try to be parked no later than 7:30 to get on the 8 AM Tram, so maybe aim for 7.

I ended up doing seven peaks, in order: Cornell, Jean, Marion, Drury, Folly, San J and Miller. I had some route finding issues that delayed me a bit and I was on track to finish in about 11.5 hours, but that didn't happen.
On the way down, about 1.5 miles from the tram station, I encountered an older gentleman in need of assistance. His back had gone out and he was stuck. I gave him my walking poles and headlamp and we got going very slowly. Fortunately, after a few minutes Ranger Rick caught up with us and took charge. It took us about 2.5 hours to get to the ranger station where we got a ride on the ranger's tractor. I took the first tram up and ended up taking the last tram down. A long day, but a very satisfying hike and a good outcome for the stricken hiker. I'll definetly be back.

I have a crazy "hike" for you... and yesterday it only took us fourteen hours !!

btw..nice job, thats a full day on foot.

I agree with HHB -- you are a good Samaritan and Mountain Angel -- thanks so much for assisting the gentleman. I have great admiration for those who abandon their hiking itinerary to help other folks.
